Perches are an important part of your bird’s quality of life.
They stand on perches all day!
It’s important to get different textures for them to feel, and also different thicknesses so that their feet aren’t always curled exactly the same all day. It’s good to stretch their toes out more and less throughout the day.
And without looking at the varieties that are available, it’s hard to know that there’s so many options out there for your precious birdie to use and love.
There are rope perches that can be rearranged throughout their cages for variety. One end attaches to the cage, then it can be twisted and twined around and up and down with the other end attached wherever you want! I adjust mine every time I switch out my little Conure’s toys!
There’s also rough perches that help to sand down your bird’s nails so they don’t need to be clipped!
Also look for natural types of perches that are actually wood because that is the healthiest for birds to begin with versus fake
man made perches. I have this branch-like one and it’s nice because it fans out instead of just being a straight pole like most perches.
My Sun Conure’s favorite perch though has to be the suction cup perch.
Even though it’s plastic, she only stands on it temporarily in the shower or on windows, keeping me company in any room in the house. She loves to bask in the sunlight on it and preen while I toil away in the room.
Since it sticks to tile as well, she loves standing on it in the shower where it’s humid and warm and she even loves getting wet in there too! I put it up high so she’s not getting sprayed the whole time. She will even nap there!
